Burcht van Leiden

An upcoming family wedding sent us shopping in Leiden for some much needed fancy clothing. I found my bridesmaid dress right away, but G still needed a suit. We found a very nice suit store in Leiden and bought everything we needed right away. G and I walked through Leiden as well, to look at a few historical monuments in the area. The American Pilgrim museum was unfortunately closed, but I hope to come back and visit. Our walk took us to the Burcht van Leiden (“Castle of Leiden”), an 11th century hill fort in the middle of town. The remnant of the fort is a ringed wall of stone that overlooks the area. It has the best view I’ve seen so far of Leiden. The weather was rainy and grey, therefore we didn’t stay very long. I always enjoy walking in the historical neighborhoods and areas of Leiden. 🙂
