My sister-in-law was married today in Mechelen, Belgium. G and I took our Finnish friend J down to Belgium with us, since he was the official photographer. I served as a bridesmaid along with my other sister-in-law and family friend. Friday we arrived in Belgium to settle at my sister-in-law’s apartment. At 6 am all of us had to wake up to prepare for the wedding. On top of hair and fancy dresses, we had a make-up artist inside the apartment. She prepared my make-up for the wedding, and it came out very awesome. The wedding was held in the nearby town hall, and followed by a long afternoon break. The town hall was incredibly fancy, and much more beautiful than many churches I’ve seen. G repeated a family tradition of taking a group wedding Polaroid portrait with his large format camera. We did the same type of picture at our partnership ceremony last year.
During the afternoon, the wedding guests gathered at the apartment or wandered Mechelen. Immediately after the wedding, we sneaked into Leonidas chocolate shop across the street 😉 The reception was held during the evening at a hotel located on a small lake. The gathering lasted well until near midnight, with lots of food and even a wedding band. It was quite an epic family wedding!
