I got up very early this morning to stop by the bus station with G to pick up a friend of ours, T. He is from Northern Germany and was on his way through the Netherlands. After cheese pancakes for breakfast, we headed for Rotterdam Port. A very thick snowstorm decided to hit in the middle of the drive, but subsided once we reached the end. However it remained very cold, and we froze our hands off taking pictures. The port had very large windmills and ships. On the way down from the hill where we shot, the port authority and two mysterious cars followed us. Did we catch the middle of a AIVD meeting? 😛
Kinderdijk‘s windmills were next, an example of the Dutch drainage systems that were started all the way back in the 1300s. The sun was out by then, so we didn’t freeze completely. When we got back, all three of us sat around our computers editing pictures and talking. G’s sister JE stopped by shortly after, and we had pepperoni pizza for dinner.
