For a drive

We woke up fairly late today, not feeling entirely good. We suspect it may have been something moldy in the cottage, as we both woke up with sore throats. My runny nose actually got better once we left the area and drove around. We ended up driving through the towns of Best, Son, and Uden. All were involved in Operation Market Garden, when the allies tried to break through the Netherlands to Germany. Unfortunately the main goal of entering into Germany to stop the Nazis failed, and thousands of Allied soldiers died. There are graveyards and war memorials scattered throughout many of these towns.

Due to our throats, we decided to stop at the nearest McDonald’s for a milkshake. To my surprise, many of their restaurants are packed with people. The one we chose was particularly local, as one of the delinquent inhabitants was in front of us in the drive through. He kept bouncing his car at the Audi in front of him, trying to intimidate or mess with him. He also honked, swore, and boosted his bass to thumping level. We felt a bit better after the stop.

However, we didn’t end up with much sleep in the night. We had to clean the cottage (since we leave in the morning), and about 20+ water flies the width of my palm decided to interfere. They kept popping out of nowhere, and I kept pointing a new one out every thirty seconds. G was kind enough to splatter them with a dish towel.

I forgot to mention we went swimming the afternoon after the Overloon museum. The YouTube video is here:
