After a short night’s sleep, G and I emptied the cottage and left Center Parcs by 10 am. We stayed there for a week in total. Instead of heading directly home, we needed to stop in Zeeland to pick up G’s youngest sister. We took a detour on the way, driving towards Maastricht first. It took under an hour to get there. The landscape turned very hilly, with sweeping turns on some local roads. G pointed out the difference in houses here, near the border. We stopped at our destination, which is named Drielandenpunt or “Three Land Point”. Located on wooded hills, there is an intersecting border point between the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. There is a tourist area with a snack bar and a view point allowing you to see all three countries at once. On ground level, there is a circle showing the physical border and the country you are currently in. Gerben and I thought it’d be interesting to stand on all three border sections and kiss on them. A small landmark nearby points to the highest point in the Netherlands, which isĀ 322.7 m/1058 ft above sea level. We had minor episodes of acrophobia atop the view point, but the view was completely worth it.
We hurried off to Zeeland, but it still took nearly 2.5 hours with traffic. For dinner, G’s mom and her boyfriend were nice enough to take us out for dinner. It was really good Chinese food, and in buffet style! We got home late at 10:30 pm.
i liked the buffet with you, and the photo of Gerben.
It was nice to see you again and talked!
