I had quite an experience today aboard the DCV Balder, the ship that my father-in-law is currently working on. This ship is being overhauled in dry dock in the city of Rotterdam, before returning to sea. The Balder is a Deep Water Construction vessel. We wore hard hats aboard the ship and received a tour from the top deck, down to the underside of the ship. There is a very long stairwell winding along the side of the ship that I had to climb to reach it. I think that was the scariest part of the tour. The deck of the ship provided a very amazing view of its berth in the Port of Rotterdam, though it was a little cold!
