Bicycles

It’s finally happened…there are more bicycles than people in our house. Now we’re conforming with Dutch tradition. I have an “omafiets” (basic bicycle) for going out on local trips and getting groceries. It’s a fun bicycle, but it’s not suited for more strenuous riding. Our family had a racer hybrid lying untouched in the garage for a few years. It was in decent condition, so we fixed it up. I took my first ride on it tonight, and it worked great. G received a racer for his birthday, since he didn’t have a bicycle at all (how unDutch!). We took  our “new” bicycles out for the first time together. We rode 14 kilometers (8.67 miles) until it was dark, and the moon rose into the sky. It’s pitch black on the bicycle trails, even with the little bicycle headlights. Definitely can’t wait to do it again!
