Den Helder

At 8 am we were up, and on the road within an hour. G, his aunt, dad, and I drove up to Den Helder, in the north side of the Netherlands. It took more than an hour, and included a nap. We dropped his family off at another Aunt (and Uncle’s house). It allowed me to meet more of his extended family. We went to the Maritiem Museum in Den Helder. It documents the history of the Dutch Navy by using extensive artifacts from wartime guns to an original 1860s ship. One of the most overwhelming parts was the 1960s submarine, complete with everyday items their personnel used. On the way back, we passed by an old fortress used in the days of Napoleon. A view on the drive allowed me to see the beginning of the outer islands in the Netherlands. We spent another hour with family, and then drove back to Noordwijk. Since we didn’t sleep too much last night, we had another nap. For dinner we had Peter’s fries, and played video games like Portal 2.
