The preceding night’s lack of sleep caught up with us today. We ended up sleeping in until 1 pm or so. We decided today to take it easy until I leave Monday. We reviewed a bit of everything that we had done over the past week that was WWII related. G showed me the game Brothers of War in depth, so that I could see Eindhoven, Son, and more in action.
Late in the evening, we had a special occasion to gather for. G’s dad invited his siblings (and their spouses) over for a gathering. I got to meet the rest of these. Following one on one conversations (up to three people) is ok for me to follow Dutch. However, it was much harder following the conversations across 12 Dutch people, even sitting in a circle. At some point I couldn’t understand G even, and his Dutch is usually the easiest. The food was surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because it was a platter of various fish and forms. Up until this trip I absolutely refused to eat fish, and didn’t like it at all. Apparently there is a difference in the tastes of salt water and fresh water fish. The fish I ate today wasn’t bad at all, and I wouldn’t mind eating it again.
Next time you ae here we eat again saltwater fish!
And maybe that is in our new home!
