We had a very special visit today from family visiting the Netherlands. My cousin was nearby in Amsterdam with her partner’s band who is on tour. We picked her up for a busy day of touring the flower region where GÂ and I live (the area known as the Bollenstreek). Our first stop was Keukenhof park in Lisse. It is best known for its displays of bulbs from the Holland flower regions. We toured through the gardens, water displays, and more. There were several exhibits honoring van Gogh, including portraits of the artist in flowers and a selfie area (for selfies with the artist). Afterward G drove us through the countryside looking for flower fields in the areas less frequented by tourists. I swear we saw almost every field possible in the Bollenstreek đ
We ate by the seaside, allowing my cousin a brief look at the coastal area near our house. Our second park visit was to Huys te Warmont, a castle-like estate in Warmond. The house is set in a small wooded park, once the former site of German V1 missiles during World War II. All of us stopped to rest at our house, worn out from the walking and very warm sunlight. It is the second time now we’ve had a family member from abroad to visit our home! My father-in-law returned to the Netherlands in time to join the three of us at dinnertime. We ate dinner  at a restaurant with a view across the flower fields. We did our best to make the day an eventful visit for my cousin đ

Catching sight of the KLM flight tour of the flower region. The DC-10 airplane they use previously served in Operation Market Garden
