Fireworks

New Year’s Day is a free for all in the Netherlands. Today every town block and distant horizon is filled with the clattering light of fireworks. It is tradition to let loose and light fireworks in the street or your yard. I haven’t bought fireworks here yet, but I enjoy watching the display at midnight. This is my third New Year’s Day celebrated in the Netherlands, but the show is never boring. It is even more special this year, since I introduced my father to this experience for the first time.

Our house is surrounded on all four sides by fireworks
