Rijksmuseum & Amsterdam

Our fellow photographer friend J continued his stay with us this week. Every visitor needs to stop in Amsterdam and visit the city, so we took him along today. I have not fully walked around Amsterdam in awhile, and it was very special to see it as a “local” Dutch resident. We parked in Hoofdorp and took a train into Amsterdam, going further into the city via the tram. We tried to visit as many places possible on foot. There are many nooks and crannies throughout the city, and we saw quite a few. G is a very good tour guide 🙂 We snacked on Flemish fries, toured the flower market, walked past the canals, and more. My favorite part of the visit was touring the collection of the Rijksmuseum, the national Dutch museum in Amsterdam. The museum is full of extraordinary pieces, from glassware, airplanes, paintings, and more. After such a long day, we made sure to eat a hearty dinner at the local pancake house.

Though a covered boat is tempting on a rainy day, walking through Amsterdam is always worth it.
